Football is the most popular sport in the world, but it has never been embraced with the same enthusiasm in the United States as it has in other countries. There are a number of reasons why Americans have never taken to the game, ranging from cultural beliefs to a lack of excitement. The main reason football isn't popular in the U. S.
UU. is due to its incompatibility with American social values. This phenomenon, combined with other historical events, has made football an unattractive sport for Americans. This is true when Germany plays France, when Japan plays against Korea and when Argentina plays against England.
It is not surprising then that the best matches played by the US national team are against Mexico, although the fervor around these matches is expressed with much greater passion south of the border. Mexico has always had more reason to hate us than to hate them. The most psychologically powerful reason why Americans have never embraced football with the same passion as the rest of the world, has to do with our values and our beliefs. One aspect that is likely to contribute to the unpopularity of football in the US.
America would be the need of Americans for frequent and constant excitement. For example, in football, basketball and baseball (popular American sports), scoring is frequent and keeps the crowd in constant excitement. And what about ugly polyester football uniforms? I love it or hate it football (football) is the biggest sport in the world and it's called the beautiful game because, unless you understand it, you'll never appreciate it. There are a lot of “haters” here, but, to be honest, as far as I can tell as a whole, America is coming (slowly) to enjoy and support football. All in all, I would say that Americans don't think enough about adults playing professional football to love it, hate it, or have any other emotion about it. There are many sports that Americans don't care about, from rugby to tennis to cricket and volleyball, but none of them receive the hate and contempt that football receives.
